I’m not sure where you heard that rumour but that is not true. Special Schools provide a specialised type of service to young people with particular needs, and that is important. For some other young people, they may wish to go to a mainstream school but perhaps with a little extra support there, and that is, of course, also fine.
It’s important to ensure that the young person is at the right school, receiving the right support, and that we don’t enforce a ‘one size fits all’ policy. Special schools will remain as special schools, with a balance of different emphasis on different types of need, ensuring we have a service which can cater for all young people across Bucks.
