Hi Katie
Speed Bumps have always been a source of disagreement as they may have some affect on speed but they can disturb the nearby residents and damage cars as well as proving difficult for emergency vehicles.
I believe the consensus is not to build more speed bumps but to design and engineer the road in such a way that it is very difficult to speed. For example having sharp turns and chicanes built in to the road or narrowing the road down at certain points with an elevated area so the driver naturally slows down.
I beleive these are “better” solutions to speeding than speed bumps.
